'Sankrant' or 'Sankranti' are the terms which refers
to the transition of Sun from one Sign to another. Makar Sankranti
specifically means the day when Surya (Sun) moves in Makar Rashi
(Capricorn Sign). Shani (Saturn) is said to be the lord of Makar Rashi.
