Significance of wearing Ruby & Blue Sapphire gemstones during Makar Sankranti

Makar Sankranti, which falls on 14th or 15th of January every year, has got huge significance according to the Indian Vedic astrology

'Sankrant' or 'Sankranti' are the terms which refers to the transition of Sun from one Sign to another. Makar Sankranti specifically means the day when Surya (Sun) moves in Makar Rashi (Capricorn Sign). Shani (Saturn) is  said to be the lord of Makar Rashi. Hence, Sun is considered to be debilitated (Peedit) when it transits into the house of Saturn, hence becomes very weak.
This is probably, the reason why we experience sudden freeze and cold after Makar Sankranti every year.

If a person has a weak positioning of Sun in her/his horoscope, then it becomes weaker during this period. A weak sun in a horoscope may result in bad health, loss of wealth, lower social status, loss of power & authorities, etc. In order to curb this situation, one of the best remedy is to wear a natural unheated & untreated Ruby gemstone (Manik) which would prevent the weakening of Sun's effects.

In contrary to this, if a person has a bad positioning of Shani (Saturn) in the horoscope, then this period might probably be the best period to wear a Neelam gemstone (Blue Sapphire) because during this period, Saturn is in an exalted stage and it sets the stage for Neelam to transfer best of its powers to the wearer.

Ruby - Ruling Planet Sun

Blue Sapphire - Neelam
